Our Parish and St. Vincent's House (SVH): A History of Blessings Exchanged
For much of 60 years, St. Christopher Episcopal Church and St. Vincent's House - Galveston, a Jubilee Ministry, have shared an exchange of God's blessings. The parish supports SVH through continuous donations of food, clothing, educational supplies, and more. Donation bins outside The Welcome Center testify that SVH is always on the minds of our parish family members. Christmas offers an opportunity to bring joy to the children of SVH's preschool as our parish collects and wraps gifts, which our Youth and others deliver, and then assist Santa in distributing into little waiting hands.
A portion of our Annual Community BBQ & Festival proceeds benefit SVH in cash assistance. Most recently, the Vestry and Capital Campaign Committee approved a distribution structure for campaign gifts, which includes a percentage of benefit to SVH. The "Building the Mission" aspect of the campaign extends the parish's ability to assist with SVH. Finally, many parishioners give of their own treasures and time to support and serve SVH students, clients, and patients.
When you call SVH, a staff member will answer, "How can we 'hope' you?" St. Christopher is privileged to have had a part in that history of hope.
